ABOUT THE ROLE
As First/Second Officer:
- You will be based in one of our 12 UK bases.
- You’ll operate the B737 to a variety of destinations on our route network including Europe, North Africa and when more experienced some challenging airports such as Innsbruck and Funchal.
- Once all relevant training is complete and you’re established in your role, you can apply to support other areas of Flight Operations such as Flight Safety, Recruitment and Training when vacancies arise.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Type Rated Pilot
- UK CAA issued ATPL/CPL with ATPL theory credits with current IR
- A current UK CAA issued Class 1 medical
- A current type rating on the B737
- Have a minimum of 100 hours on the B737
- Have completed an MCC course (as per FCL.735.A)
- Be eligible for Zero Flight Time Training (as per FCL.730.A)
- Fluent in English (verbal and written) with ICAO Level 4
- Eligible to live and work indefinitely in the UK without additional approvals (visa sponsorship cannot be given for this role)
- Hold a valid passport which permits unrestricted worldwide travel
- At least 1.58m (5ft 2in) tall
- Able to swim at least 25m
- Before commencing training, complete referencing and pre-employment background checks required for the issue of an airport security ID
- Travelling time from place of residence to home base must not exceed 60 minutes in the UK
- Testing for psychoactive substances (drugs and alcohol): To prevent misuse of psychoactive substances, testing for psychoactive substances may be conducted, upon employment and may be required by the airline during your employment.
Non Type Rated Pilot
- Hold a valid UK CAA issued CPL and Multi-Engine IR(A) with ATPL theory credits (frozen ATPL, modular or integrated) or MPL
- A current UK CAA issued Class 1 medical
- Have completed advanced UPRT training (as per FCL.745.A)
- Have completed an MCC course (as per FCL.735.A)
- Be eligible for Zero Flight Time Training (as per FCL.730.A)*
- Fluent in English (verbal and written) with ICAO Level 4
- Eligible to live and work indefinitely in the UK without additional approvals (visa sponsorship cannot be given for this role)
- Hold a valid passport which permits unrestricted worldwide travel

Military Pilot
- Before training with TUI commences, hold a UK CAA issued ATPL/CPL with ATPL theory credits with current IR
- A current UK CAA issued Class 1 medical
- Previous Military flying experience within the last 2 years (fixed wing or rotary)
- Before training with TUI commences, have completed an MCC course (as per FCL.735.A) or hold an MCC exemption certificate
- Before training with TUI commences, have completed Advanced UPRT (as per FCL.745.A)
- Fluent in English (verbal and written) with ICAO Level 4
- Eligible to live and work indefinitely in the UK without additional approvals (visa sponsorship cannot be given for this role)
- Hold a valid passport which permits unrestricted worldwide travel
- At least 1.58m (5ft 2in) tall
- Able to swim at least 25m
- Before commencing training, complete referencing and pre-employment background checks required for the issue of an airport security ID
- Travelling time from place of residence to home base must not exceed 60 minutes in the UK

Low Hour Pilot
- Hold a valid UK CAA issued CPL and Multi-Engine IR(A) with ATPL theory credits (frozen ATPL, modular or integrated) or MPL
- Have passes in all ATPL theory exams with an average of 80% or greater
- A current UK CAA issued Class 1 medical
- Have completed minimum 70 hours as PIC on aeroplanes
- Have less than 500 flying hours total time
- Have completed an MCC course (as per FCL.735.A) by 1st March 2025
- Have completed advanced UPRT training (as per FCL.745.A) by 1st March 2025
- Fluent in English (verbal and written) with ICAO Level 4
- Eligible to live and work indefinitely in the UK without additional approvals (visa sponsorship cannot be given for this role)
- A valid passport which permits unrestricted worldwide travel
- At least 1.58m (5ft 2in) tall
- Able to swim at least 25m

Frequently Asked Questions
The contract is Part Time Lifestyle 81.3%. This means full time working in the summer (May-October) and part time working in the winter (November-April). You’ll have 13 weeks off in the winter. 6 weeks will be allocated by the company, you may bid for a further 6 weeks, and an additional week will be available in the peak season (Christmas, Easter, Half Term holidays) and can be bid for.
Whilst there are no salary deductions, you will be bonded to take into account training costs. If you leave TUI prior to the total training amount being repaid, you will be liable to repay any outstanding amounts. Details of the training costs will be contained within your contract.
Full time working can be bid for and is allocated in seniority order.
All positions are on the B737.
No, there are no B787 opportunities. Pilots may bid to switch fleets upon joining. All bids are in seniority order.

The assessment centres are held at our TUI Training Centre in East Midlands.
The assessment centre will start at 08:00L prompt and you can expect to be there until around 17:00.

If you are successful at assessment centre, you can expect to be invited to complete a simulator assessment. This will be held in Gatwick and is usually within two weeks of the assessment centre.
Hold Pool
If you’re successful at one of our Assessment Centres, you’ll be placed into our Pilot Talent Pool. Reaching this stage means your skills and behaviours have matched our selection criteria – you’re now only one step away from joining the TUI Team.
You’ll remain in our Pilot Talent Pool whilst we finalise our airport base requirements; our offers are made in line with business needs which means that some bases and candidates may receive offers before others.
We’ll keep in touch when you reach this stage.
You can expect to be in the talent pool for up to 12 months and will receive regular updates via email.
If you don’t receive an offer, you’ll be able to submit a new application.
Training
You’ll have an induction with the pilot management team on day one. This is your opportunity to learn all about TUI and meet other members of the management team.
You’ll then commence your training which will include safety equipment and procedures training, as well as training to fly the B737. If you are type rated, you’ll complete an OCC, and if you are non type rated, you’ll complete a full type rating. If you are a low hour pilot or military pilot who isn’t eligible for zero flight time training, you’ll also complete aircraft training.
You’ll complete a number of line training sectors with our training team prior to a line check. The number of line training sectors varies depending on experience.
Training will initially be in East Midlands with simulator training taking place in Gatwick.
