Lifestyle Psychoactive Substance Information
If you meet the required benchmark in your Simulator Assessment, you’ll be invited to proceed with the lifestyle test, which will be conducted on the same day as your simulator assessment. This involves the collection of hair strands as part of the process.
The Lifestyle Test:
– Is conducted on the same day as the simulator assessment
– Involves the collection of hair strands
– Is performed by Abbott Toxicology, TUI’s external medical partner
– Is handled entirely by Abbott Toxicology, TUI staff do not collect samples
– Is not performed for candidates who do not pass the simulator assessment
This testing method can detect substance use over the previous three months. This helps employers understand if someone is a regular user of drugs or drinking alcohol to chronic excessive levels, which simply means heavy alcohol drinking over a long period of time.
A small amount of hair (approx. 1 cm wide) will be cut close to the scalp; if head hair is too short, a body‑hair sample may be taken instead.
Please bring a valid ID so it can be verified that the sample has been taken from the right person.
Important notice – Declaration of medication
You will be asked about medications used: prescribed, purchased, over the counter or any injections you may have recently had at the dentist, doctors or hospital. This is because some medications can cause a positive result and a list can help us verify this.
We wish you the best of luck with this final phase of the selection process!
